For the 2017 Artigitale review, we participated in the project to enhance one of the most important churches in the area, the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, by making an architectural video mapping entitled Illo Tempore.
Based on careful historical research conducted by historian Lucio Taraborelli, we produced the architectural video mapping as a visual support to the narrative of the events surrounding the birth and development of the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore. This was a 3D animated documentary that, making use of a collection of documentary and photographic artifacts, paintings and statues belonging to the church’s history, traced its salient stages. During the video projection, a narrative voice Icks Borea narrated the events that unfolded, accompanied by an evocative soundtrack produced by Sound Designer Francesco Angelini.
The video mapping thus reproduced 800 years of Santa Maria Maggiore’s history, showcasing the many transformations, retouches and improvements made to the architectural complex by the various noble houses that ruled the town; the many works of art or manuscripts that have given it luster and splendor over the centuries.
